Please make sure you review the daily health assessment (english or simplified chinese) before sending your child(ren) to school. Or use the K-12 Health Check website.
If you are late to school, your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. Please call the office at (604) 713-5414 or use the new doorbell beside the door so they can let the child(ren) in.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello Southlands families,
We hope you received the school newsletter on Friday sent via email. Thank you to everyone who was able to come to our rainy Sports Days. Thank you to the parent volunteers and everyone who purchased coffee, pasties and raffle tickets. We will be announcing the winner of the Nellie's basket on Monday.

With our PAC Annual General Meeting coming up this Wednesday, 8th June, the PAC Executive Committee is making a last call for nominations for the following positions:
- Chairperson
- Vice-Chairperson or Co-Chairperson
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Fundraising Chairperson
- District PAC "DPAC" Representative
If you are interested in standing for any of these positions please e-mail southlands.pacnews@gmail.com to be added to the ballot. Current members standing for re-election should also send a note.
Every parent and caregiver with a child at Southlands is automatically part of the Parent Advisory Council. Register to join us at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday at 7pm, review the agenda, and join us to shape what services PAC provides our students next year.

Sports Day
Thank to the dedicated volunteers who ran the raffle and pastry tent for parent refreshments on sports day. The weather meant things didn't go as planned, but our volunteers were able to pivot and sell out our stock after school! A huge thank you goes to Carol Chan and Peter Carvey (Alex, Kindergarten) who generously donated the delicious pastries made by Will Kuo of Viva Fine Foods & Bakery in Kitsilano.
Thank you to Nellies for donating the beautiful gift basket that was raffled. We raised a total of $822 from the raffle and pastry sales.
Thank you also to our Fundraising Chairs, Carmen Chou and Linda Yang along with VP Renee Hui, who organized the pizza lunch for every student, as well as our team of amazing volunteers who quickly and efficiently made sure the lunch got out to every class while it was still hot!
In spite of the disappointment of sports day being cut short, it was amazing to feel the buzz of energy as Southlands students and parents were able to come back together again at last in a fun community experience. Thank you to teachers, staff and student volunteers who made it possible.
