Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.
If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello, Southlands Families!
We hope you received our Southlands Newsletter on Friday along with some information about Kindergarten registration for Sept. 2023.
I am writing this message while watching the Canada vs. Croatia soccer game. On Wednesday, many classes watched the Canada vs. Belgium game with great excitement and eventual disappointment. However, we can be very proud of Team Canada for making it into the World Cup. Mr. Jung is tracking the progress of the teams on a bulletin board in the library.
We have been rehearsing for our 70th Birthday Party Assembly on Monday, Dec. 12th at 2 pm. Family members are welcome to attend. The side door of the gym will be open for you to enter the gym.
We will be also having Winter Concert Assembly on Wednesday, Dec. 14th at 1:30 pm and families are welcome. Please bring a donation for the Vancouver Food Bank if you are able.
As we near the end of November, our focus on being a Communicator will shift to that of Risk-taker. Please know that our staff try very hard to be good communicators with families. If you ever have questions or concerns, please get in touch.

On January 27th, we will hold Lunar New Year activities at the school. We are looking for student and parent volunteers for the event.
The activities will include performances and various entertainment activities. Students of all ethnicities are welcome to participate in the performance, no talent is required, as long as you are interested in participating. Parent volunteers are also needed to assist with the entertainment activities.
