Happy holidays, Southlands families!

Thank you for all the care you have taken this term, keeping our school community safe, but still connected. It has been a pleasure to see your faces at PAC meetings and outside the school, and we have appreciated your participation in PAC initiatives that raise important funds for the school, like the pop-up spirit wear sale and hot lunches.

As we head into the last week of school please look out for the email sent by your child's classroom teacher connecting you to the class parent for their Division. Many class parents are busy organising thank you gifts for the teachers so please consider taking part, to thank the teachers for their extraordinary efforts over the last few months.

Have a restful break and we will look forward to seeing you all again in the new year!

Nina & Renee
PAC Co-Chairs

Hello Southlands Families!

Five more days before a much-needed break for all. We hope you received our Friday School Newsletter, which has some photos from around the school. Our Kindness Campaign continues this week with more challenges to be a risk-taker and dare to be kind.

The weather continues to be unpredictable. We have a great number of mostly intermediate students going out without jackets, then becoming cold and mischievous. We are lucky to have an undercover area that can provide some shelter. On Friday I encouraged all students to come prepared for any weather and to take shelter there if unprepared with a book, a card game or drawing. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe this winter.

There is still one more day (Monday) to donate socks for Div. 5's Sock Drive for Shelters.

As this is the last weekly PAC newsletter message before I'd like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a relaxing winter break. See you in 2022!

Sincerely,
Margaret Paxton

Hello Southlands Families!

The first week of our Kindness Campaign ended on Friday with an assembly on Teams. Max and Pearl were the excellent MCs - talk about risk-taking! They spoke to all of the classes about how we can be kind to ourselves, others and this place. Each day, there was a Kindness Challenge read on Morning Messages.
  • Monday's was - try being kind to someone who is acting in an unkind way - a very difficult thing to do.
  • Tuesday's was give someone an authentic compliment.
  • Wednesday's was to think of the kindest person you know and do something kind that they would do.
  • Thursday's was don't be misled by another person suggesting that you do something unkind.
  • Friday's was try a little kindness as we watched this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GzLHgdz4ag

Sincerely,
Margaret Paxton

Share the gift of comfort this holiday season. Socks are the most needed and least donated items at homeless shelters.

Please bring used or new socks to Mrs Beck's class 211 by December 13.

Thank you for your kindness!
