On Tuesday, you are invited to come to the school between 3:00 and 4:00 pm and meet your child's teacher, other staff and other families. We hope you can make it. This week will be another short one as Friday is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Schools will be closed. The professional day that we had planned to have on Monday, Sept. 19th has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 1st. Please mark your calendars. This is a day for teachers and staff to plan their Units of Inquiry for the year. We will be putting this on the calendar on the website. Thanks to everyone for remembering to drop off and pick up in safe places, obeying traffic signs. Our Safety Patrol will start tomorrow! We gave our special thanks to the Musqueam community for organizing and hosting the social event. We hope everyone had a great time and connected with other families, new and returning. Orange Shirt Day originates from the story of Phyllis Webstad from the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation. On Friday we sent home our PAC notices about Pizza Lunch ordering and the Welcome-Back social gathering and PAC meeting. If you have any questions about placing your child(ren)'s lunch orders on Munchalunch, please reach out to us. For the social gathering, please RSVP so our Musqueam community can prepare accordingly. We also look forward to meeting new and returning families at our first PAC meeting on Tuesday evening, after the social.  We are also looking for parent volunteers who could help for about half an hour on Fridays for Pizza Friday. You can review the agenda for the PAC meeting here To help with planning, please let us know how many family members can attend by clicking here http://evite.me/G1MjBczf1h Math Circle Workshop Students of grades 4 to 7 are invited to challenge and develop their thinking and creativity skills at the Math Circle Workshops.   This is an enrichment program for students organized by the faculty members of the Department of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences. The goal of these workshops is to convey to students the importance of mathematics in the real world as well as how much fun mathematics can be. We want to get the students excited about mathematics and to give them a setting that encourages them to become passionate about this subject.    The Math Circle Workshops will commence on September 26, 2022 and will continue through April, 2023. The sessions take place on Monday evenings from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, at the SWING Building Room 205 located at: 2175 West Mall. http://maps.ubc.ca/PROD/index_detail.php?locat1=901 There is a $5 fee (cash), per session, per child (parents are free).
