Hello Southlands Families!

We hope you all had a chance to see or hear about what your child is learning during Student-Led conferences last week. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher at any time of the school year if you have questions, concerns or compliments!

As our province continues to battle Covid-19, we will ensure that we follow all of the health and safety protocols that we have in place at Southlands. This includes the playground zones for recess and lunch. The zones are not popular with our intermediate students, but everyone is being very co-operative and they understand that the purpose is to not mix learning groups. We have been pulling the ping pong table out to the Blue Zone at recess and lunch and students are really enjoying practicing their skills.

On Monday our teachers will be working on some IB goals in the morning. In the afternoon we will be participating in a workshop on infusing Indigenous content into the curriculum.

See you on Tuesday, Picture Day!

Grade 7 Photo Slideshow

There will be a photo gallery slideshow created for the Grade 7 Graduation Ceremony in June by the Grad Committee. This slideshow has always been a highlight of the ceremony which graduates and families look forward to. We are asking families to help us by:
  1. Selecting one baby or toddler photo and one current photo of their graduate
  2. If the picture is not digital, please scan the photo in the highest resolution available
  3. If you do not have a scanner, you can take a digital picture of the photograph
  4. Email the digital picture to winnpark@yahoo.com (Winnie Park, Aiden's mom, Div 2)
  5. Title the Subject of your email with the First and Last Name of the Graduate and their Division
Please email photos by May 15th
Southlands alumni and friends - does anyone know what grad class year donated this legacy tree? We’d love to replace the plaque that has fallen off and been lost.

FYI an announcement is coming on Mon Apr 26 at 10am:
@s_malcolmson Minister of Mental Health & Addictions, @JM_Whiteside Minister of Education, @MitziDeanBC Minister of Children & Family Development will be making an announcement on Monday.
