Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.
If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello Southlands Families.
Last week the Grade 6 and 7 students went to camp at Loon Lake in Maple Ridge. They had a great time and tried things outside their comfort zones. Thanks for Mr. Lee, Ms. Alexandra, Ms. Phung, Ms. Alice, Mr. Jung and Ms. Mitsiadis for organizing the trip going along to supervise and keep everyone safe.
Teresa sent home an important email Friday with next year's calendar and some other important information - we hope you found it in your inboxes.
Sports Day: It will be Friday, June 16th at the Musqueam Soccer Field. We will be walking down from school in the morning. Please note - there will be no parking available at the soccer field. Parents/guardians should please walk or park elsewhere. More details to come.

Our AGM meeting is on Wednesday June 7 at 6 pm in person at the school library. This is our last PAC meeting of the year and will discuss important items such as budget for next school year and nominations of PAC executive roles for next year. PAC cannot function without the dedicated parent volunteer work. We encourage and welcome families to join this year-end meeting.
Please contact Renee if you need childminding during the meeting.

Sports Day is coming up on Friday June 16 and PAC will be providing lunch for all the students. PAC is therefore moving our weekly pizza hot lunch to Thursday June 15. We are unable to reflect this change on Munchalunch. We apologize for any inconvenience in advance and if the Thursday lunch doesn't work for your family, please email Renee at southlands.elementary@gmail.com.

The Southlands PAC Direct Donation campaign for the 2023/2024 school year will be ending on May 31st. There are just a few days left to help us reach our goal.
We are getting closer, but still really need your help to reach this year's fundraising goals which are $7,000 for the Outdoor classroom and $5,000 for Classroom funds. Without donations, we risk not being able to support these programs.
We haven't had an update yet for any online donations made in May. If you have made an online donation this month, we would like to say a huge thank you and to you, and all of our Donors so far.
Our total received to date is $9220
Important update: VSB is no longer providing tax receipts for cash or cheque donations.
To donate & receive a tax receipt:
- Donate Online: http://vsb.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/1869/196/false/true and select "E-Southlands PAC"- this is the quickest way to receive a tax receipt
To donate without a tax receipt:
- Provide cash or write a cheque payable to "Southlands Elementary School" noting "2023 PAC Direct Donation" in the memo and include the pink Donor Recognition Form
Just a reminder, please remember to send the Donor Recognition form to school with the details of your donation, even if you donate online. This lets us know if you would like your name to be included in our newsletter recognition of donations or if you would like to be anonymous. If we do not receive the form, your donation will be considered anonymous.
