Please make sure you review the daily health assessment (english or simplified chinese) before sending your child(ren) to school. Or use the K-12 Health Check website.
If you are late to school, your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. Please call the office at (604) 713-5414 or use the new doorbell beside the door so they can let the child(ren) in.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello Southlands families,
As you can imagine, it is a very busy time of year. Teachers are writing report cards, students are writing reflections about their learning year and we are making lots of plans for the 2022 - 2023 school year.
Thank you for trusting the teachers to prepare tentative class lists for next year. A great deal of thought and care goes into that process. We build classes with each student's best interest in mind and ensure that classes are balanced in terms of children's temperaments, energy levels, etc. Sometimes students stay with their teacher for two years, sometimes one. Please also know that sometimes teachers' assignments changes and therefore they may not be teaching the same grade as this year. If there is something about your child's learning that we do not yet know, please speak to your child's teacher.

We are two weeks to the end of the school year and your class parent should have reached out to you regarding an end of year class gift in appreciation of your teacher and teaching assistant(s). If you have not received the note yet and want to be included in the class gift, please email them directly by June 24.
