Please make sure you review the daily health assessment (english or simplified chinese) before sending your child(ren) to school. Or use the K-12 Health Check website.

If you are late to school, your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. Please call the office at (604) 713-5414 or use the new doorbell beside the door so they can let the child(ren) in.

If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello Southlands Families!

We had a wonderful Heritage Day at school on Friday. Many students brought artifacts from their cultures to share. Thank you for supporting our spirit day. Watch for some posts on Instagram and Twitter in the days to come. Our next Spirit Day will be Cozy Pajama Day on December 17th, the last day before Winter Break.

Speaking of holidays, did you know that if your unvaccinated child travels out of the country, they may not attend school for 14 days after returning to Canada? As you are making travel plans it is important to keep this current Government of Canada regulation in mind.

A reminder that if you were not able to attend a conference with your child's teacher earlier this month, please reach out. Our teachers are happy to connect with you. Also - please remember that Friday, Nov. 26th is a non-instructional day - no school for students. All VSB staff will be taking part in learning about Indigenous Education and Reconciliation. All the best for the week ahead!

Sincerely,
Margaret Paxton

Southlands PAC collects contact information for each student and their family on a voluntary basis. This information is made available in a directory for PAC and parent use. The directory is a great way for classmates and the families of Southlands school to connect, and for PAC volunteers to communicate about PAC activities. All information is to be used in the Southlands community only, and is not used for solicitation or any other purpose. The Directory is organized by the PAC and not by Southlands Elementary school staff.

This year the PAC directory has moved online. Instead of paper forms that were sent home every year, the PAC directory can be filled out online. Please take a few minutes to enter your information:

Hello Southlands families!

Information has been sent home regarding how families can donate to the Southlands PAC Direct Donation campaign for the 2022/2023 school year. This campaign helps Southlands deliver programs and upgraded services to our entire student community that are outside of the VSB funding. Please consider donating, your generous support is greatly appreciated. For a 2021 tax receipt, please donate before the end of this year.

Funds raised through this campaign will help support the Outdoor Classroom and Classroom Funds. Our fundraising goals are $10,000 for the Outdoor classroom and $5,000 for Classroom funds.

We would like to say a huge Thank you to a donor for the first online donation to the campaign. We truly appreciate your support!

Just a reminder, if you choose to donate online, please remember to send the paper form to school with the details of your donation, so that we can be timely with our gratitude.

Thank you again for supporting Southlands Elementary.
