Please make sure you review the daily health assessment (english or simplified chinese) before sending your child(ren) to school. Or use the K-12 Health Check website.
If you are late to school, your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. Please call the office at (604) 713-5414 or use the new doorbell beside the door so they can let the child(ren) in.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello Southlands Families!
We hope you received our bi-weekly Southlands Newsletter on Friday.
Thanks to your generosity, we surpassed our goal for the Food Bank. Your contributions were greatly appreciated.
Another item in the newsletter is about litter on the playground. Each week, one class is on Litter Patrol and picks up little with tongs and a bucket. However, the amount of litter is becoming overwhelming. Please consider packing a litterless lunch and snack and sending a refillable, water bottle.
Lastly, we were thinking about both Remembrance Day last week as well as Kindness Day which was Friday. We talk about kindness all day and every day at Southlands. We want our school to feel safe, happy and comfortable for everyone.

VSB Grade 8 Programs
VSB's Mini School programs provide enrichment opportunities for highly motivated students who are Vancouver residents, consistently work at an Applying level and have excellent work habits. Students must apply to each program separately as per each program's process. Apply to the District Mini School General Registry by 3pm on December 16, 2021.

Hello Southlands families!
Information was sent home last week regarding how families can donate to the campaign for the 2022/2023 school year. This campaign helps Southlands deliver programs and upgraded services to our entire student community that are outside of the VSB funding.
Funds raised through this campaign will help support the Outdoor Classroom and Classroom Funds. Our fundraising goals are $10,000 for the Outdoor classroom and $5,000 for Classroom funds.
We would like to say a huge Thank you to Yang Yang / Zhiqin Dong for the first cash donation to the campaign. We truly appreciate your support!
Just a reminder, if you choose to donate online, please remember to send the paper form to school with the details of your donation, so that we can be timely with our gratitude.

Southlands PAC collects contact information for each student and their family on a voluntary basis. This information is made available in a directory for PAC and parent use. The directory is a great way for classmates and the families of Southlands school to connect, and for PAC volunteers to communicate about PAC activities. All information is to be used in the Southlands community only, and is not used for solicitation or any other purpose. The Directory is organized by the PAC and not by Southlands Elementary school staff.
This year the PAC directory has moved online. Instead of paper forms that were sent home every year, the PAC directory can be filled out online. Please take a few minutes to enter your information:
