The session is for families with children who will enter any grade from K to 7 in September 2020.

PYP Blog

The Learner Profile is central to the Primary Years Programme.  During the month of January, we are focusing on being balanced.  On January 31, Ms. Mitsiadis and Ms. Cronk’s class will host an assembly to share what they know about being balanced.

Braiding Indigenous knowledge

VSB has published an article on how the IB program at Southlands weaves Indigenous knowledge into the program, thanks to the close relationship the school has with the Musqueam band.

Please read the article and watch the video here

0 Waste Fair

On January 29, Business students from John Oliver Secondary are hosting a 0 Waste Fair. This is part of a business competition they are participating in. The theme of the fair is sustainable fashion. The students are trying to create an educational experience for youth and educate the community on ways we can upcycle clothing so that they do no end up in landfills. There will be upcycling games, a fashion show, trivia, free clothing and upcycling crafts.

The event is free/by donation for anyone who wishes to donate from 9:00am-3:00pm.

It is $5.00 per person (this includes dinner and prizes) from 3:00pm-7:00 pm. We are inviting families as well!

Fundraise while shopping!

Thank you to the families who have joined our FlipGive team! We encourage others to join the team using code FRJ3Z5.

Shopping online through the FlipGive Southlands team is a fundraising method that allows you to shop and have a commission go to the PAC. There are no extra costs to you.

Use the FlipGive app or browser plugin before shopping online at stores like Starbucks, Amazon, Sportchek, Nike, Bay, The Gap, Indigo, etc. and you will be ensuring a percentage of your purchase gets credited to Southlands programs. There is even a way to shop in-store and get the same benefit!

Download the FlipGive App or visit www.flipgive.com/join to sign up. You will be asked to enter the Southlands Elementary team code FRJ3Z5.

How does it work? Stores on FlipGive pay a commission whenever you shop with them via their app or website, and FlipGive shares that commission with the team you are registered for. You can choose to make your shopping purchase private and no details of your shopping are shared with the PAC.

Happy Shopping!
