Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.
If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Dear Southlands Families,
Next week, we will be having our Remembrance Day Assembly on Wednesday, Nov. 8th at 11:15 am. Family members are welcome to attend.
A Southlands Newsletter will be sent home via email on Monday, Nov 6th. Please note that Monday, Nov 13th is a Statutory Holiday and there will be no school.
I, Ms. Paxton, will be away from school for the CASEL conference in Atlanta, GA, from Tuesday, Nov 7 - through Friday, Nov 10th. CASEL is an organization that advances social emotional education, something I am very passionate about. To learn more about CASEL go to https://casel.org/. While I am away, if you have any concerns, please contact your child's teacher. Mr. Jung will be teacher-in-charge.
We are excited to celebrate Diwali next weekend, and thank the Gupta family for again supplying us with the materials for every student to make a diya (lamp). Thank you, Priya, Abhi, Aagam and Atharv.
There are still a number of families who have not yet completed all of the paper and on-line back-to school forms. Because of that, there is NOT YET a class with 100% completion to win a treat. Let's get it done! Go, Sockeyes!
