Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.

If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.

If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello Southlands Families.

Our AGM meeting is on Wednesday June 7 at 6 pm in person at the school library. This is our last PAC meeting of the year and will discuss important items such as budget for next school year and nominations of PAC executive roles for next year. PAC cannot function without the dedicated parent volunteer work. We encourage and welcome families to join this year-end meeting.

Please contact Renee if you need childminding during the meeting.

Grade 7 Leaving Ceremony and Celebration

An invitation for Grade 7 families to attend the "Class of 2023" leaving ceremony on June 27th was sent home with students last week. Please remember to RSVP as this will help us to organise the refreshments following the ceremony.

A tradition in previous years has been to include a slideshow of the students who are leaving. We would like to put a slideshow together for our Class of 2023 and need your help. If you are happy to, we would like you to share photos of when your child was younger (e.g. baby photo, first day of school) and then a photo of them now. We would also like the students to share a few fun facts about themselves (e.g. favourite activity). We would love for everyone to be included, even if you would prefer not to share photos. Please send photos / fun facts to Michelle including your child's name and division.
If anyone would like to help with this project, please let Michelle know, any help would be greatly appreciated!

For the celebration to be successful we really need volunteers. In particular, we need volunteers to help decorate the gym on Monday 26th June. Please contact Carmen if you are able to help with this. Thank you!
Generation Health is a FREE 9-week healthy lifestyle program for children and their families, delivered through YMCA BC and in partnership with the Childhood Obesity Foundation. Program participants will meet virtually to learn about healthy eating, physical activity, goal setting, body image, self-esteem and more!

We have 2 Summer program days to choose from: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm. This program requires prior registration through these details: phone 1-888-650-3141 or send an e-mail to generationhealth@gv.ymca.ca

Families who join this program receive a complimentary membership to the YMCA.
Thank you to the families who have joined our FlipGive team! We encourage others to join the team using code FRJ3Z5.

Use the FlipGive app or browser plugin before shopping online at stores like Starbucks, Amazon, Sportchek, Nike, Bay, The Gap, Indigo, etc. and you will be ensuring a percentage of your purchase gets credited to Southlands programs.

Throughout the year any purchases online from Mabel's Labels will earn our school a rebate when you select "Southlands Elementary School" from the menu. Thank you for your support!
