Hello Southlands Families!
This week we welcomed a new staff member, Kendra Thomas, who replaced Kate Baxter. Kendra is currently working with Div. 4 as an SSW. We also had our last visit with our 30 UBC Teacher Candidates in the IB program. We wish them well as they continue their studies and hope that many will consider applying at Southlands once they graduate. This will be Ms. Eichhorn’s last week before she goes on maternity leave and we will be thinking of her and her family in the days to come.
Our lunchtime schedule will return to Eat First, Play After on Monday. Eating time will be 12:00 – 12:20 and playtime from 12:20 – 12:47pm. Thanks to everyone for your patience as we tried something different.
We hope to see lots of families Wednesday night for the Winter Social. Please stop by if you can for the Bake Sale, Concession, Choir Performance and more!
Sincerely,
Margaret Paxton ( @SouthlandsIB)

Southlands will be having our Winter Social the afternoon of Wed, Dec 18 starting at 4:30pm. There will be fun activities like a crafts table and holiday photo booth. Senior choir, Junior choir and Musical Yogis (KG & Gr1/2) will be performing at 5:30pm. In addition, concessions (pizza & sushi) will be available for sale, and there will be a bake sale in the library before and after performances. Grade 7 students will also be selling their raffle tickets for the gift baskets, which will be drawn after the musical performances are over. We may even have a visit from the North Pole!
Looking forward to seeing all Southlands families at the social!

Fundraise while shopping!
Thank you to the families who have joined our FlipGive team! We have already earned $182! We encourage others to join the team using code FRJ3Z5.
Shopping online through the FlipGive Southlands team is a fundraising method that allows you to shop and have a commission go to the PAC. There are no extra costs to you.
Use the FlipGive app or browser plugin before shopping online at stores like Starbucks, Amazon, Sportchek, Nike, Bay, The Gap, Indigo, etc. and you will be ensuring a percentage of your purchase gets credited to Southlands programs. There is even a way to shop in-store and get the same benefit!
Download the FlipGive App or visit www.flipgive.com/join to sign up. You will be asked to enter the Southlands Elementary team code FRJ3Z5.
How does it work? Stores on FlipGive pay a commission whenever you shop with them via their app or website, and FlipGive shares that commission with the team you are registered for. You can choose to make your shopping purchase private and no details of your shopping are shared with the PAC.
Happy Shopping!
