We're putting together a slideshow for the upcoming 7th grade graduation and need families' help! We want to celebrate how all of our children have grown, so we're asking for three photos of your 7th grader over the years, ideally:
- a baby photo
- a pre-k or kindergarten photo
- a recent photo from this year
We’ve extended the deadline to give families more time to include their kids in this special tribute. Please email photos to miss.megan@gmail.com by May 27 and include the name of your child.

Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.
If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello Southlands Families,
We hope you are enjoying your long weekend. Thank you to everyone who made this week's Spring Fling a big success. It was a lot of fun. Congratulations to Cypress for being closest when guessing how many pom poms were in the jar! And three parents won Choices gift cards, kindly donated by kindergarten student, Kai's family.
Last week we also had a very successful Welcome to Kindergarten event, and the District Indigenous Grade 7 Moving Forward Ceremony, during which Virginia, TJ, Zacharia, Trent, Alyssa, Pearl, and Takaya were honoured.
Next week there are several field trips and more Geering up workshops. The teachers have started planning Sports Day, which is on Friday, June 7th. The PAC provides pizza lunch for all students. THANK YOU! The events will start at 9:30 and end at 2:00 pm at which time, parents may take their children home if they wish.

Family Photo Sessions Fundraiser
The Southlands Elementary School Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is pleased to be offering family photo sessions with Amy Williams Photography, over the weekend of June 22-23rd in the schoolyard.
This is our last fundraiser of the year. Families will be able to book a 20 minute session with Amy for a sitting fee of $25, which will be donated to the PAC. There are only 20 slots available, and YES, pets are more than welcome! Make some great memories this spring and help support your PAC and students!

Generation Health is a free 10-week healthy lifestyle program for children and their families, delivered through YMCA BC and in partnership with the Childhood Obesity Foundation. Program participants will meet virtually or in person to learn about healthy eating, physical activity, goal setting, body image, self-esteem and more!
Starting in July, we have 2 program days to choose from: Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Families who join this program receive a complimentary membership to the YMCA.
