Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.
If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

2023/2024 PAC Executive and Committee Nominations Open
Hello Southlands families,
I hope you are enjoying the Easter weekend. It's that time of the year that PAC is inviting and welcoming nominations for both executive and committee positions for next school year. If you or have someone amazing in mind that would be great to step up for any positions, please let us know. We also welcome you to connect with the parent volunteers who are in the current position if you have any questions. Please note that if the positions of Chair, Treasurer and Fundraising are not filled by volunteers for 2023/2024, then the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) can no longer function and all programs supported by PAC will no longer be available.

We are hoping to borrow some shovels big and small from families until the end of the week - for working the beds. Two of the beds got done with Victory Gardens last week and they look great.
If you have any to lend, please mark them with your name and drop them off at the school office. We will clean and return them to you.

The Grade 7's will be fundraising for their leaving ceremony with lemonade sales this month. The lemonade sales will be happening on April 14th, 19th, 21st, 26th and 28th after school. Each cup will be $2, please support them by buying a cup!

The Southlands PAC Direct Donation campaign for the 2023/2024 school year is ongoing. We really need your help to reach this year's fundraising goals which are $7,000 for the Outdoor classroom and $5,000 for Classroom funds.
We don't have an update yet from VSB regarding any February online donations, but we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our Donors.
Our total received to date is $5220
Important update: VSB is no longer providing tax receipts for cash or cheque donations.
To donate & receive a tax receipt:
- Donate Online: http://vsb.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/1869/196/false/true and select "E-Southlands PAC"- this is the quickest way to receive a tax receipt
To donate without a tax receipt:
- Provide cash or write a cheque payable to "Southlands Elementary School" noting "2023 PAC Direct Donation" in the memo and include the pink Donor Recognition Form
Just a reminder, please remember to send the Donor Recognition form to school with the details of your donation, even if you donate online. This lets us know if you would like your name to be included in our newsletter recognition of donations or if you would like to be anonymous. If we do not receive the form, your donation will be considered anonymous.
