Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.

If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.

If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.
Hello and Happy New Year, Southlands Families

On Friday we sent home a Southlands School Newsletter - we hope you found it in your email in-box. This month, teachers will be writing report cards for all students. They will be distributed on Friday, January 27th.

Choir practice will resume this week on Tuesdays at lunch in the SmartLab. All students are welcome to join. Ms. Alexandra and Ms. Judy are also starting up Beading Club again. Students should listen to morning messages for days and times.

I wish you a wonderful week ahead.

Sincerely,
Margaret Paxton

Reading Buddies is a program that pairs teens aged 13-18 with kids in grades 2 to 4 who would like to improve their reading.

The program is starting up at the Dunbar VPL library from Jan 26 - Mar 9, and they are looking for kids in Grade 2-4 who want to practise their reading skills

They are also looking for teens to volunteer to be a big buddy and help young kids practice their reading skills. Volunteer hours count towards community service. To register, download an application form and submit it to the branch. Please email teens@vpl.ca with any questions.
