Hello Southlands Families!

As April ends and May begins, we'd like to thank you all for your continued Health and Safety vigilance. Our intermediate students are adjusting to their recess zones and discovering new ways to play. The Blue Zone includes the basketball court and the ping pong table, the Red Zone has the tetherball, frisbee, picnic tables, benches, and next week, Spikeball! The Green Zone is the back field and this week, Div. 1 and 2 were thrilled to receive their new Flag Football kit. We are all making the best of the situation. In next couple of weeks, we expect that 95% of our staff will have received their first shot of vaccine. That is really something to celebrate!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Waitlist

if current families are aware of future families of Southlands currently wait listed, please contact PAC

For any future grade 8 students waitlisted at point Grey Secondary, you are encouraged to check back at Point Grey in the Fall. They have 80 waitlisted cross boundary students yet VSB has permitted only 20 spots. However the cross boundary wait list expires in October and any spaces that become available are open to cross boundary applicants.

Ministry's Student Learning Survey for Grades 4, 7, 10 and 12 end date has been extended to May 7. While your children may have completed the survey at school, don't forget that it's open for parents of students in these grades too. Tell the Ministry about your children's education experience this year. The survey should take about 30 minutes to complete and is available in 16 additional languages
