Hello Southland Families!
It is hard to believe this is the last week of February and we have only three more weeks until Spring Break. This week we are looking forward to the Flying Bob (unicycle riding, juggling funny guy) performance on Monday, and our Southlands Pink Shirt Assembly on Thursday. On Friday we will be setting up for Exhibition in the gym. Our grade 6/7 students have been working really hard and we hope everyone will have a chance to come and see their presentations of learning on March 3rd and 4th. Thank you again to everyone for your support of our students.
Sincerely,
Margaret Paxton ( @SouthlandsIB)

In March we will be holding our PAC meeting at the earlier time of 2pm, as our Senior Choir will be participating in the District Choral Festival that evening. We hope that families who are not normally able to attend the evening PAC meetings will come and join us to learn about all our wonderful PAC activities!

VSB survey
This week, the VSB sent families a short survey on the future of Vancouver schools. This is your chance to share your opinions and advocate for your children’s education. The survey is the first step in the public consultation process for the Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP). Your feedback could have a significant effect on the future of Southlands, its feeder schools and Vancouver schools as a whole. Southlands PAC, together with the Vancouver District PAC (DPAC), encourages families to review this information and complete the survey so we can better advocate for our children’s education.
This message from the DPAC offers context and guidance in answering the survey:

Fundraise while shopping!
Thank you to the families who have joined our FlipGive team! We have already earned $217 for Southlands programs. We encourage others to join the team using code FRJ3Z5.
Use the FlipGive app or browser plugin before shopping online at stores like Starbucks, Amazon, Sportchek, Nike, Bay, The Gap, Indigo, etc. and you will be ensuring a percentage of your purchase gets credited to Southlands programs. There is even a way to shop in-store and get the same benefit!
