| | Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.
If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#. |

Happy Thanksgiving Southlands families. Hope you all are enjoying your long weekend.
Lot of exciting things going on in school. First all, thanks to all the caregivers who stepped up to be class parents. We now have class parents for all divisions. Class parents can reach out to the class parent co-ordinator, Jenny Wasko Paterson (waskopaterson@yahoo.com) for next steps.
Reminder to send cutlery with your child for hot lunch days. Food does not come with any cutlery, so for a sustainable choice, reusable cutlery can be sent.
Last few days for ordering your SPIRIT WEAR. Order it via munchalunch if you haven't done so already. Any questions on sizes or ordering, can be directed to Gerry Teixeira (gerryteixeira38@gmail.com)
On October 30th, PAC is inviting all the children and families for a little Halloween sprinkle party after school at 3pm in school gym. Join us for hot chocolate, face painting and connecting as a community. Looking forward to meet many of you.

Ordering is open through MunchaLunch, payable by credit card. Access MunchaLunch at https://munchalunch.com/schools/southlands/. Options are under the fundraising tab. Ensure you order the correct size for Youth and Adult shirts. The deadline for ordering is Wednesday, October 15th, 2025.

| | STEAM4KIDS @ Southlands Elementary
The SPACE EXPLORERS program offers 8 weeks of exciting hands-on science based activities. Watch fascinating demonstrations, join in enquiry-based discussions, participate in individual & group experiments, and make amazing take-homes. STEAM4Kids will inspire the curiosity and imagination of children with fun science activities that will help them understand the science all around them.
Registration Open to Grades: K-7 Dates: Wednesdays, October 22 & 29; November 5, 12, 19, & 26; December 3 & 10 Time: 3:10pm – 4:10pm Cost: $150.00 including tax (8 Sessions)

You are invited to join Flute and Recorder Classes with the Mastery School of Music at Southlands Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year!
Rehearsals will be held at the following times: Recorders can be purchased for $10 at the first lesson, Flutes may be rented from the PAC
Students sign up for both semesters (32 Classes) at the start of the year, with two equal payments, in the form of post-dated checks of $288/semester. Semester 1 is September 2025 - January 2026 and Semester 2 is February 2026 - June 2026. Sign up sheets will be coming in your child's backpack soon.
Class attendance is important, and students will need to bring their instruments every week, as well as their music folders. Attendance at Christmas and year-end recitals is expected, as with other opportunities for group and solo performances through the Mastery School of Music and Southlands Elementary. |
