Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.

If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.

If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

The next PAC meeting is virtual on 15 Apr over Webex at 7pm. Every parent and caregiver with a child at Southlands is automatically part of the Parent Advisory Council. Please join us and hear about what the PAC is working on.

Send any additional agenda items you may want to cover to Nina at southlands.elementary@gmail.com

The PAC will be hosting a spring fling on 24 April from 3pm-5pm. There will be face painting, a photo booth, a bake sale and lots more. All caregivers and chldren are invited to stop by and mingle with other caregivers.

We are looking for volunteers to donate baked goods for the bake sale. Please drop off your baked goods at 9am in the school gym.

VSB Budget Letter Campaign
Sign and Share by April 25, 2025

As the Vancouver School Board prepares its 2025/2026 budget, parents and caregivers across the district are calling for a renewed commitment to students. We are deeply concerned that current funding levels are not meeting the needs of learners—particularly students with disabilities and diverse needs.

To ensure that all students have access to the support and stability they deserve, we are urging the Board to prioritize funding for inclusive education, frontline staff, and direct services that make a tangible difference in classrooms every day.https://www.vancouverdpac.org/urgent-vsb-budget-letter-campaign-sign-and-share-by-april-18-2025/

Please help us gather as much support as possible before the April 25th deadline. We’ve made it easy—just fill in the form online to send your letter of support. Please sign and share! Every letter counts.

Southlands Elementary PAC is excited to launch the Direct Donation campaign, raising funds for the 2025/2026 school year.
http://vsb.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/1869/196/false/true

Southlands Elementary School takes pride in having built a strong spirit of Giving that is powered by the generous contributions of your time and financial support to help enrich our children’s learning. Over the years, the Direct Donation campaign has helped Southlands deliver new programs and upgraded services to our entire student community that were outside of the VSB funding. With ongoing provincial education funding cuts, the need for direct funding from families and our community is ever more crucial.

We are seeking to raise $10,000 to fund our basic budgetary demands and enrichment programs that help our children learn and develop the IB Primary Years Program Essential elements: Learner Profile; Transdisciplinary Themes; Concepts, Attitudes; Approaches to Learning and Action. The money raised in this campaign will be used to fund the following items in the 2025-26 school year:
  • New Classroom Projectors - $5,000
  • Classroom Funds - $5,000
Please check the campaign flyer for details of how to donate and get your tax receipt

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT!
Southlands PAC has partnered with Pedalheads for an exclusive $25 off code for our school’s families, until the 30 June. For every use of the code, Pedalheads will give $25 back to the Southlands PAC. You get $25, and the PAC gets $25. Use code SLANDS25 when registering.

Pedalheads provide fun, engaging, and developmental bike camps during Spring Break and over the summer in Greater Vancouver. Their Vancouver Spring Break Bike Camps will be running the weeks of March 17-21 & March 24-28 at the following 3 locations:
