Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.
If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Mark your calendars! Southlands Elementary PAC is hosting a Winter Clothing Swap. This is your chance to bring any gently used winter clothing that no longer fits and swap it for items you need—everything from jackets and snow pants to hats and boots. All sizes are welcome, including adult clothing.
You can drop off your donations on December 9th between 2:50 and 3:15pm right outside the gym doors. Please ensure all donated items are very clean and in excellent condition. If you have a lot of items to donate, please bring them all in a large bag or box.
On December 12th, come by to pick up what you need, free of charge! After the event, any leftover items will be donated to the "Green Depot" at Wesbrook Community Centre, which offers free clothing to newcomers and refugees. The Grade 7 grad committee will also be selling hot chocolate, to keep you warm while you browse.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to refresh your winter wardrobe while helping others in our community. See you there!

Division 5 is currently having a Sock Drive. Socks are one of the most important yet least donated items. Last year Division 5 brought in over 300 pairs of socks and this year they’re aiming for over 450 pairs.
Please donate good condition socks if you can. They don’t even need to be a matching pair; we’re just looking for any good condition (or new) socks that you can donate.
Thank you so much.
