Please continue to make sure your child(ren) are healthy and feeling well before sending them to school.
If you are late to school (after 9:00 am), your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. The upper front door is now unlocked during the day so no need to call or ring the doorbell. All parents entering the school must enter through the upper front door and check-in at the office.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Celebrate Diwali, the Hindu celebration of light at the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House. Activities include a Bollywood workshop with "Bollywood Star" Karima Essa, henna designs by Deux Chic, diya crafts with West Side Family Place, and delicious Indian cuisine from Akbar's Own as well as a special dance performance from some neighbours! A great event for the family! $20 registration is inclusive of activities and treats. Guests aged 5 and below are free!

One to One Parent Reading Workshops are interactive and facilitated by ONE TO ONE educators. They're designed to give parents and caregivers the opportunity to learn positive strategies to help them support their children when reading at home. Participating families will receive a digital resource package.
In November they will be hosting two virtual Parent Reading Workshops for parents/caregivers:
- Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m.
- Monday, November 18 at 10:00 a.m.

Southlands families, friends and other community members who enrol in Pedalheads swim lessons are invited to use our new Southlands discount code, to receive $25 dollars off your next registration. Every time the code is used, Southlands PAC will also receive $25, making this a quick and easy fundraiser for our school. Please feel free to share the code with others!
