Please make sure you review the daily health assessment (english or simplified chinese) before sending your child(ren) to school. Or use the K-12 Health Check website.
If you are late to school, your child(ren) must enter through the upper front door by the salmon mural and check-in at the office. Please call the office at (604) 713-5414 or use the new doorbell beside the door so they can let the child(ren) in.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email souattendance@vsb.bc.ca or phone 604-713-5159 as soon as possible and leave your child's name, division number, the date and whether they will be absent or late. If you phone, you will be required to use a school code. The Southlands school code is 79#.

Hello Southlands families
We hope you have received the information about the distribution of rapid tests. We will have a booth for pick up on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:45 - 9:00 am and 3:00 - 3:15 pm. If you would like a test to come home for your intermediate (grade 4 - 7) student, please complete the form that was sent and return it to school. Intermediate students may also take home tests for younger siblings. If you are unable to pick up a test for your child, please contact the office to make other arrangements.
In the last week before spring break, we will be celebrating Exhibition! The students and teachers have been working extremely hard to pull the group projects all together. We applaud our students' curiosity, commitment and collaboration.
We have a couple of new staff members: SSA Max Klunder, SSA on-call Harpreet Kaur, and Supervision Aid Tia Teneycke . We are so happy to welcome them to Southlands. Watch for a school newsletter on Friday, March 11th. Have a wonderful week and a safe and happy spring break
Sincerely,
Margaret Paxton

Thank you for your generous support of our fundraising events using Munchalunch over the last year. We do not know if we will be able to use MunchaLunch for hot lunch programs this year so we would like to clear all the credits on families' accounts at this time. Please log in to your account and check if you have any credits on the system.
If you have credits, please consider donating them to the PAC, to help with our fundraising efforts which have been affected by Covid for the last two years.
You may also request a refund through e-transfer, but we must receive your request no later than Friday March 11. Please contact Cecilia at southlands.munchalunch@gmail.com and let her know if you would like to have your credits refunded. All leftover credits on Munchalunch after that will be donated to PAC

After the success of their workshops this fall, ONE TO ONE is again hosting virtual workshops for interested parents/caregivers of students in Grades 1-3 called Come Read with Me.
Come Read with Me is an interactive workshop facilitated by a ONE TO ONE educator designed to give parents and caregivers the opportunity to learn positive strategies to help them support their children when reading at home. Participating families will receive a digital resource package including the “Reading Success at Home” handbook. This program is available at no cost to families across British Columbia through the generous support of donors.
The virtual sessions are on February 15, 23, 28, March 10, and 16. They start at 6:30 and run for 60 minutes with time for questions after. Each session is the same – parents/caregivers only need to come once

Thank you to the families who have joined our FlipGive team! We have already earned $391 for Southlands programs. We encourage others to join the team using code FRJ3Z5.
Use the FlipGive app or browser plugin before shopping online at stores like Starbucks, Amazon, Sportchek, Nike, Bay, The Gap, Indigo, etc. and you will be ensuring a percentage of your purchase gets credited to Southlands programs.
