We are looking for a few parents to organize Lunar New Year celebrations in school. PAC has some funds through gaming grant which we can use towards cultural activities. If you are interested, get in touch with us.
A great fundraising opportunity is underway at Southlands in conjunction with Created By Kids. “Students Make Professional Art - School Makes Money!”
With this program, every student in the school has an opportunity to make an art masterpiece on special card stock paper. Images can be used for greeting cards, coffee mugs, bookmarks, calendars, metal and canvas prints, puzzles and more.
Students should have brought home their artwork last week. Please check the artwork and place some orders for beautiful, professionally printed products featuring your child’s art!
ONE TO ONE Literacy Society is hosting a virtual Parent Reading Workshop (hosted over Zoom) coming up on Monday, November 17th at 7:00pm. The workshop is 60 minutes long with an interactive Q&A to follow.
Their workshops for parents and caregivers offer positive reading strategies to support their children at home. There is no cost to participate, and families will receive a digital resource package. These workshops have been made available to families in British Columbia through the generous support of our donors.
While they welcome families with children of all ages, the workshop will include content that is best suited to parents and caregivers of students in Grades 1 and 2.

Halloween pre party was great fun and the weather turned out incredible. A huge thanks to volunteers for organizing this event.
All students in the school are working on an art project which they will also bring home. On November 4th , please check the artwork being brought home by your kids (they can work till November 11th at home) and place some orders for professionally printed products featuring your children's art! The orders are placed on https://www.createdbykids.ca/ and the access code is STHS2025.
The community centre in Dunbar is offering a FoodSafe Level 1 course on November 29th. Please consider taking this course if you frequently volunteer in school and handle food. PAC will be able to sponsor a few people who are interested in taking this certification. See the flyer below for more information. Let me know if you are interested.
