Good evening,

It has already been 2 weeks in the school year. Hope everyone has settled down into their new classes and school routine. I want to reach out to all of you to give an update on a few things PAC is planning for next couple months.

First up is the PAC meeting on September 16th at 6 pm in school library. There will be a quick social with tea and treats at 5:30 before the meeting. Your participation and input are highly valued, as we discuss important matters related to our school community and student success. The agenda is available for review.

Show your school pride with our brand-new PAC Spirit Wear! We’re excited to offer comfortable hoodies and t-shirts featuring our school logo and colors — perfect for students, parents, and staff. They will be available early October, stay tuned for more details.

Last but not the least, Hot Lunch! Our volunteers have worked hard with vendors, the school, and MunchaLunch, and are ready to take orders. Please see the next article below for details on how to register for an account, if you don't already have one, and place your order.

For any questions or inquiries, feel free to email me at southlands.elementary@gmail.com

Thanks,
Priya Gupta
PAC Chair
Hot lunches are starting up next week!  All orders will be taken online using MunchaLunch.

If you do not have an account on Munchalunch, please register for one. Go to  https://munchalunch.com/schools/southlands. Click the “Register Here” button (as shown below). The system will guide you through signing up.

This year we will have 3 hot lunch days - Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can place your order once for the entire term, or on a week-by-week basis. Please check the "order by dates" in Munchalunch.

Please note:
  • Once orders are placed they will not be refunded.
  • We cannot process new orders after the deadline passes
  • If you need assistance with ordering, please contact southlands.munchalunch@gmail.com
  • If you have made a mistake with your order, please contact southlands.munchalunch@gmail.com. Orders cannot be changed directly on MunchaLunch once the order session has closed.
  • Please note that any unpaid lunch orders will be cancelled. Notification will be sent out before cancelling.
This year there will be NO COOKIES with pizza. The students will get ONLY what is ordered off the menu.

Our thanks to the Southlands parent community for supporting this important fundraiser and to our wonderful Volunteers who help make this program a success!
By example, Terry Fox led us to believe we can all make a difference in the lives of others. Step-by-step he ran, and on Friday, September 19, 2025, step-by-step our students will run along side his inspiration. We have challenged Southlands to raise a Toonie per student. However, donations of any amount will be accepted. Funds donated will help to ensure continued research into the treatment and cure of cancer.

Parent volunteers are needed for the run from 1-2:45pm. Please reach out to Mr Larson if you can help.
Please make sure you subscribe to Ms Wood's blog about the IB Primary Years Programme at Southlands.

The latest post talks about the PyP program, the approaches to learning and teaching, and what the learner profile and units of inquiry are. You will hear the students talking about these terms in their call. Read it at https://southlandspyp.wordpress.com
