Hello Southlands Families,
We hope you received our Southlands School Newsletter on Friday. Last week our grade 6 and 7 students wrapped up Exhibition. The whole school had access to the presentations on Teams and to the displays in the library. Please ask your younger students what they thought.
Thanks again for supporting the school at our Virtual Scholastic Book Fair. You helped raise almost $200 for the school library.
Thank you to all of our Safety Patrol Members and to their parents/guardians for reminding them. We wish you all a safe and healthy week ahead and a restful Spring Break.
Sincerely,
Margaret Paxton

- How to differentiate between healthy, stressful & addictive tech experiences.
- How to reset your child’s tech habits for a successful school year
- Guidelines on how to maintain healthy tech habits in your school/ home during the pandemic and beyond

DPAC Facilities Committee Meeting
DPAC Facilities Committee welcomes any parents, guardians, and community rmembers to join an overview meeting on Monday, March 8 from 7:00-8:30pm. Register at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIpceigrDstE9yMSBLtHx_sghdhkLMb-2L4
Agenda:
1. Recap Long Range Facilities Plan "LRFP" - wins and outstanding issues
2. Update and feedback on preferred school size
Background:
Over the past year a preferred school size working group consisting of two representatives per stakeholder group has met several times with the mandate "that the District establish guidelines on preferred student population (enrolment) size with the goal of determining appropriate ranges of school size to inform planning decisions" for the LRFP. They have determined these guidelines: Elementary schools 300-550 enrolled students and Secondary Schools 1200-1750 enrolled students.
To view presentations and meeting minutes from the preferred school size working group visit https://www.vsb.bc.ca/District/Planning_and_Facilities/Planning_Studies/Pages/Preferred-School-Size-Working-Group.aspx
If anyone has any questions or feedback, you are welcome to contact Deb Broadhurst southlands.dpac.rep@gmail.com.
